Easy DIY Vegan Body Lotion Recipe
We all reach for a store-bought lotion that promises hundreds of benefits for our skin. But have we ever realized how many chemicals are in there that are bad for us and nature! If you are new to the vegan and minimalist lifestyle and recently started thinking about all these we are here for you.

Here we are going to discuss all a good body lotion that does not require a ton of chemicals. But it will be more effective, vegan, and nature friendly. Let’s see what we have in our vault.
What makes a body lotion good?
You surely used a body lotion in your life that just sits on your skin like residue. I have experienced such lotion a lot and those were renowned brands. A good body lotion should not sit on the skin.
It should get inside the skin and nourish it from the inside of the skin. Also, the lotions that we use have so many ingredients that we cannot even read. Those are unnecessary preservatives that you can avoid if you want.

What if I use coconut oil only?
Minimalists are trying to save the planet by lessening their product consummation. That’s a great step, to be honest. They are saying that extra virgin coconut oil is enough as a body lotion.
Yes, it can work great if you have normal skin. But dry skin will not be able to survive on that. You need to give your skin a little more for that. Also, coconut oil sits on the skin just like other body lotions. Then what can you use as a good body lotion?
Natural oils that you can use as body lotion
- Shea butter
Shea butter has a beautiful buttery texture. It gets absorbed into the skin like nothing. It contains vitamin A, E, and F that will nourish your skin inside out. If you are pregnant apply pure shea butter on your belly directly and it will help with stretch marks. It works better than any other expensive stretch mark cream.
- Sweet almond oil
There are natural oils that are moisturizing but clogs our pores. Those are not so great option for long term use. But sweet almond oil does not clog pores at all. It’s packed with vitamin E and antioxidants. Antioxidant protects you from free radicals and this protects your skin from premature aging.
- Jojoba oil
For your lotion, you want a deeply hydrating, anti-aging, and not so oily oil. All these are in jojoba oil together. It’s a package that you will love in your lotion.
What to use as a fragrance in lotion?
As you want a vegan lotion, the essential oil will be best as a fragrance. If you want to be sure, use a little essential oil on your skin to see if you are allergic to it.
Tea tree, sandalwood, grapefruit, Eucalyptus, lavender, ginger, lemon, mandarin all essential oils are safe for pregnant women.
Here is the final recipe that you can follow as your vegan lotion. The ingredients for vegan body lotion recipe:
